CMG Canada Projects
Bank of

Conflict Management Group has conducted training seminars for middle- and upper-management since
1993.
Canadian Constitution Conflict Management successfully conducted two
nationally reported and televised mediations between 12 diverse Canadians
representing different viewpoints on Quebec secession, rights of
aboriginals, and federal power sharing. Both forums produced unanimous
agreement of an unexpected nature. After the first session, Rick Miller, a
participant and Crown Prosecutor from British Columbia, wrote that without
the process engineered by Conflict Management, he couldn't imagine the
session "being anything more than a shouting match."
Canadian National Railways CMG led a joint workshop
and facilitated two days of discussion for management and labour unions
as part of an effort to change labour relations at CNR. Labour and
management decided to go ahead with a more cooperative, facilitated process.
Canada-Newfoundland Aboriginal Land Claims
Negotiation Conflict Management completed a diagnostic study of
the difficult and now suspended negotiations between the government of
Canada and the government of Newfoundland and Labrador over cost sharing for
two aboriginal land claims in Labrador. CMG conducted a series
of interviews in preparation of a report which contained diagnoses for the
current impasse and general approaches for restructuring the negotiation
process. Indian and Northern Affairs, Canada (INAC), the department that
commissioned the study, has used our recommendations as the basis for the
approach the Canadian negotiating team recommended to the Minister of
Indian Affairs.
CTV The company facilitated negotiations to end
several years of bitter ownership disputes among owners of the only
private national television network in Canada.
OSH CMG gave a presentation and conducted a short training
workshop for the Occupational Safety and Health Conference of October
1993.
Niagara Institute
CMG conducted a series of
open workshops in collaboration with the Niagara Institute of Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario.
At these seminars, CMG provided negotiation training to a variety of
professionals from both the public and private sectors.
Ontario Human Rights Review Task Force A
diagnostic study and recommendations on how negotiation and mediation
procedures might be incorporated into Ontario's human rights enforcement
system was successfully completed by CMG.
Noranda Minerals
CMG conducted a negotiation training seminar for
management personnel from Noranda Minerals.
